Baby Brother Turns 1!

February 16, 2013

I can’t believe its been a year since I gave birth to this guy on my living room floor. You can read all about his birth story here.

Thad has been a rock for us in a lot of ways. A very small rock.  Regardless of what is going on, the stress, anxiety or family turmoil, he was a constant giggly, smiling, cheerful little ball of fun.  He learned to sit up, crawl, play peek a boo, pull up to standing, and drop things to elicit uh ohs. He took the comfortable path children take that first year.  Where all you can do is stare with an open mouth at how this

Can turn into this

Thad’s most recent trick is standing up in the middle of the room holding onto nothing so I see a walker in our not too distant future. Between Rett walking at 13 months and Evie walking at 2 weeks past her birthday, I’m sure its right right around the corner.

For his party, we had the family over.  My father and mother in law spiffed up the house and cooked a delicious meal.  Everyone came over to watch the fun of him eating his first cupcake and celebrate Thad.  Who we all love so much.

Thad had his 12 month Marcus Autism Center sibling study appointment on the 13th, the day after his birthday.  He did developmental, speech and eye tracking.  He scored in normal range on all his tests with no delays so that was great! We go back at 18 months for a follow up speech/developmental testing to make sure he is still on track.

He also went the doctor and got his shots and a look over by him.  Everyone pretty much agrees he’s perfect.

To one year of nursing (I FINALLY made it!), smiles, giggles, achievements, milestones, memories and love! And to many, many more.  We love you, baby brother!
