Final day of vbs

A post shared by Laura Martin (@lauralea1018) on

Sometimes God’s plans are very crafted and take years to unfold so you can see exactly why this and that happened which led you down the road you’re on. And sometimes you’re driving to Target, glance up and see a VBS sign and sign up literally two days before it starts.  On a whim. Because it sounds like a good idea and you really wanted the kids to do VBS this year.  I’ll let you guess which version I’m talking about.

All I have are these adorable pictures of them in the morning before VBS

Second day at vbs

Sometimes I gripe and feel very down about how much our life has to revolve around autism and everything its made Rett’s childhood become.  And then I send him to VBS and he does great and has a fabulous time and I realize how lucky I am and how thankful I should be.  There are a lot of parents that would love to send their child to VBS but because of sensory issues or other challenges, they just can’t.

Day 3 of vbs

The kids absolutely loved VBS.  They were excited every morning. Singing the songs and bringing home their art projects.  It was adorable. And as I sat in the carpool lane every afternoon, I felt normal.  Doing normal mom stuff. Look here are my kids coming out of VBS smiling and happy. Just like your kids.

So my kids were the only ones turned around backward during the parent program.  The only ones with their name tags in their mouth through half of their group’s song.  I was so proud when Rett was doing the motions and singing along to his song.  And Evie knew almost every lyric to every song that was sung.

It was nice to be part of the ‘normal’ that summer brings to a lot of families.   We are indeed blessed.
