About

I am Laura, mom to Rett who was diagnosed with autism in October 2011.  I was formerly a first grade teacher and now stay home full time with my children.  There’s Rett, 6, Evie, 4, Thad, 3 and Lachlan is closing in on one year! This blog is about our adventure in finding information on treatments and activities to help our son, Rett.   We will be moving to Atlanta in early spring or summer 2012 in order to have better access to resources for Rett.  I was planning on home schooling my children and am now in the process of deciding what is best for Rett in the long run.  Thanks for stopping by!

Update as of 8/12/12-  I’m still Laura but now am mothering 2 on the spectrum. Evie received her diagnosis on 8/9/2012.  While autism is sometimes a black cloud over our family,  I celebrate my children where they are today and push them towards a better tomorrow.  I strive for acceptance, spreading awareness and carefully maintaining the little people inside of them while providing them with the therapy they need.  Come join us on our journey through tot school and therapy decisions!

Update as of 2/14/15- We have now moved to Canton, GA in order to be in the burbs and find a great homeschool community for our family. And we have!  I am now homeschooling Rett and Evie in Kindergarten. We use Saxon for phonics and math,  the Kumon workbooks, Math made Easy by DK Workbooks and lots and lots of pinterest!

Update as of 2/27/15- On February 18, 2015, Thaddeus received his autism diagnosis at Marcus Autism Center.

Update as of 6/5/16- On June 5, 2016, Lachlan received his autism diagnosis at Marcus Autism Center.  My husband and I have also split so I am now a single, homeschooling special needs mom.

I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. It’s so refreshing to see that you don’t try to make things seem better than they are or that everything is perfect all the time. We all have our good days and bad days and it is so relieving to know there are other mommies out there like me. Thank you.
